Designing kid/teen spaces is one of my favorites so when a friend asked me to help update her oldest daughters room I jumped at the chance. After a few months and a ton of help from my friend client, the room is now complete.
The biggest change is obviously the paint color. The second biggest change was eliminating "stuff" and rearranging furniture. We used the existing cube shelves and made a window seat and my client's mother made the seat cushion... along with the bedskirt and euro shams! I mustn't forget her dad made the new headboard and it was painted Annie Sloan's 'Graphite'. The curtains got a facelift with pom-pom trim and shortened to fit the new seat. We updated the dresser to fit better and moved it to the opposite corner to help balance the weight of the room and added the peacock lamp. All in all with just a few key pieces- new lamps, smaller round nightstand, larger mirror and updated pillows- it's a whole new room!
